Our 2024 tournament season has come and gone. Already looking forward to 2025 season and our 2024 Classic.
Congrats to Charles and Randy for winning the 2024 Angler of the Year awards!
10-26-24 Lake Griffin
After having to cancel our September tournament due to back to back hurricanes it was nice to get out and fish on any lake. And after trying to figure out a way we could fish Butler we had to change to Griffin.

From the old directors and the new directors in 2025, Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!
11 teams braved the first dog days of summer. Water levels still low everywhere it seems and Pierce was no exception. Glad the thunderstorm that rolled in did not last very long and as always it is best practices to find cover until the storm passes.
First Place with weighing 15.43 pounds goes to Charles and Randy
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 14.72 pounds goes to Kevin and Cam
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 14.12 pounds goes to Troy and Adam
Big Bass weighing 7.06 pounds goes to Kevin and Cam
We had quite a few dead bass this tournament, 8 to be exact and from my understanding multiple teams had livewell issues and some bass were gut hooked. During the hot summer months it can be a challenge at times to keep the bass alive and am sure we all do our best. The new directors are aware too and may review some options during the hot months.
7-27-24 Kissimmee
Kissimmee has not been very good lately with water levels way low and the heat. Today was hot and the bite was tough to say the least. Out of 10 teams only 31 bass were brought in and 5 teams had limits. Good news is we had no dead bass.
First Place with 13.84 pounds goes to Charles and Randy
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 12.74 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 11.24 pounds goes to Steve and Mike
Big Bass weighing 4.28 pounds goes to Charles and Randy
Congrats to all the winners!
I would like to recognize Troy for his generous contribution to our club.
Troy purchased a brand new scale for our club and the new directors used for the first time at the Kissimmee tournament. If you have not already thanked him please do so the next time you see him. THANK YOU TROY!!!
The last time we fished or tried to fish Reedy the water was so high from the hurricanes. It was quite lower this time but did not play factor in the fishing. Lots of nice limits were caught, 7 in the double digits and 5 in the teens and higher.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 23.65 pounds does to Henry and Austin
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 21.75 pounds goes to Steve and Mike
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 17.44 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
Big bass weighing 8.03 pounds goes to Steve and Mike
At least it was not the dog days of summer like last year when we fished Chuck’s home lake. But the clouds and winds sure did play spoiler for us. We had 9 teams this Saturday along with another club that launched from Tracy’s Point.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 19.88 pounds goes to Mike and Steve
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 13.13 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason
Third Place with 5 bass weighing goes to Chuck and Justin
Big Bass weighing 8.29 pounds goes to Charles and and Randy
First I would like to congratulate Paul and Sean for winning the 2023 AOTY honors. Great job guys!
Now on to the classic tournament. With the weather not looking very promising 7 teams braved the potential elements and we sure were glad that Saturday and Sunday turned out to be nice days to fish on the Big O.
Friday pre-fish was a wash out on the other hand. A few of us went out after the danger of lightning went below us but was still a drizzly day.
First Place with 32.44 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason
Second Place with 31.85 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
Third Place with 24.47 pounds goes to Gary and Richard
Big Bass day 1 goes to Darrell and Jason with a 4.69 pound bass
Big Bass day 2 goes to Paul and Sean with a 5.62 pound bass
Paul and Sean with day 2 limit weighing 20.70 pounds
All of us that were there would like to thank Sean for his generous dinner he provided for the members which included filet minions, corn on the cob, baked potatoes and grilled shrimp skewers. He even brought the grills and table and him and Paul grilled up everything to perfection. Next year may be just hamburgers and hot dogs which will be awesome too!
Speaking of the 2024 Classic, we will be fishing March 22 and 23 2025 out of Clewiston’ Lake Okeechobee.
The current board of directors will retire at the end of the 2024 season.
I want to thank Darrell, Steve and others who have helped over the last 15 years plus run the club. Thank You!!!
We still plan on fishing but we feel it is time for some younger blood to run the club and look forward to helping the new directors with the transition.
What a cold and miserable winter we have had. At least we had a break from the cold on our first tournament of 2024. Please welcome Jr. and Ruth to SPPB Club too. Heard this chain has been tough recently and it sure was.

Big Bass weighing 5.78 pounds goes to Jason and Darrell.
Our next 2024 tournament is April 27th on Lake Panasoffkee out of Tracy’s Point.
Trying to find a new lake we have not fished we decided on Lake Yale since the team that picked Blue Cypress could not fish and trying to also find a lake a little closer we got lucky with our choice. Three teams came in with over 20 pounds and each team that fished had a limit.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 24.01 pounds goes to Charles and Timothy
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 23.96 pounds goes to Matt and Mike
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 20.15 pounds goes to Kevin and Cameron

Kevin and Cameron with third place limit. Must be the socks.
Next tournament is Crooked launching out of Bob’s on 9-23-23
The 2023 Classic will be on the Big ” O ” out of Clewiston. Dates are February 24th and 25th 2024
What a crazy hot summer we are having and hopefully one more month to go in August. As much as I like the summer months I am ready for some cooler weather.
Lake Panasoffkee 7-1-23
Due to some smaller club that showed 150 members reserving permits we decided to change to 7-1-23. This is Chuck’s home lake and pick. After he has been catching pigs more often than not he had the advantage. But that is why it is called fishing.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 13.28 pounds goes to Chuck and Justin
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 11.99 pounds goes to Keith and Christine
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 11.81 pounds goes to Matt and Mike
Big Bass weighing 3.78 pounds goes to Keith and Christine
50/50 goes to Justin
Lake Kissimmee 7-22-23
Second month of record heat but did not seem as hot as Panasoffkee. Water was way up too and from reports fishing has been tough.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 16.60 pounds goes to Chuck and Justin
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 14.95 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 14.28 pounds goes to Gary and Richard
Big Bass weighing 5.78 pounds goes to Justin and Chuck
Another nice Spring Day on this April tournament and a nice turn out.
Even with the water being way low every team was able to catch some bass and 8 teams brought in limits. Had a few subs too, Justin fished with his wife Kimberly. Gary fished with Bob. Kevin fished with Eric and Charles fished with Randy.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 19.41 pounds goes to Gary and Bob.
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 14.54 pounds goes to Charles and Randy.
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 13.92 pounds goes to Troy and Adam.
Big Bass weighing 5.57 pounds goes to Gary and Bob.
50/50 winner goes to Mike
Congrats to all!
5-20-2033 Harriss Chain
Due to Memorial Day Holiday we fish the third weekend of May. Would think Jason would have looked at schedule to not have to work………….but nooooo! Unfortunately he was not able to get out of work so Darrell fished with Jim. Kevin fished with Eric. What a windy morning too after we launched and ran across the lake. Crazy waves!
First Place with 5 bass weighing 15.79 pounds goes to Gary and Richard
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 13.51 pounds goes to Mike and Steve
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 13.26 pounds goes to John and Rd
Big Bass weighing 4.62 pounds goes to Gary and Richard.
50/50 winner goes to Justin
And in two tournaments taking both first place and big bass here comes Gary and Richard and jumping into first place overall. They beat Steve and Mike’s big bass by .008 tenths of an oz.
With two other tournaments launching from same ramp and all the weekend locals it is a good thing the ramp and park are as big as it is. What a crazy place it was at the end of the day. Lots of small bass were caught and it turned out to be tough to get the big bite. Then a few teams had mechanical issues. Gary and Richard could not get their live wells to work and called me to let me know and ask if needed to use another teams live well. They still had 3 bass that didn’t make it. Then Charles motor was acting up and would not run on plain. And last but not least Steve was suing his new boat for first time in a tournament had a battery blow up while we were fishing Scared the crap out of us when it blew up. This left us without a trolling motor. Fun Times!
First Place with 5 bass weighing 15.09 pounds goes to Paul and Sean.
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 9.56 pounds goes to Mike and Stev
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 9.51 pounds goes to Gary and Richard
Big Bass weighing 4.63 goes to Mike and Steve
50/50 winner goes to Charles
2022 Classic on Lake Okeechobee
Out of the 9 teams that qualified only 5 were able to make the Classic. Not sure if I have seen the lake as high as it was but found lots of stained dirty muddy water and a few areas that had clean / cleaner water we were all trying to find along with all the other locals and clubs. And as always we had a great time on the Big O even though the big bites were tough to get. Lots of small bass were being caught, just had to make long runs to get to cleaner water areas. And with the water up so much all the skinny trails were deep enough to run. But scary as some are one lane / boat only and Darrell and Jason had a close encounter and luckily no damages. After the second day heading back out of Cochran’s pass there was a bass boat that did not do so well as the whole port side was damaged. Again crazy scary when running the skinny trails.
First Place with 18.69 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
Second Place with 18.05 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason
Third Place with 17.45 pounds goes to Chuck and Justin
Big Bass Day 1 weighing 3.84 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
Big Bass Day 2 weighing 2.71 goes to Darrell and Jason
Usually the total weights we had for two days are 1 day weights at least, and big bass are way more than what we caught. But that’s fishing!
And on top of all the fun we had I forgot ( will never forget ) about Steve and I having a trailer tire blow on the Skyway heading to Clewiston. Then heading back just out of Clewiston we had a hub go out. Guess that is a good thing about tandem trailer. Chuck and Justin were behind us and followed us as we drove slow and steady back home at 55 MPH. Then in Sarasota Justin called and said smoke was coming out of the wheel on the same side as the other hub went. WTF !!! We were officially stranded on I-75. This was around 4:00PM. Chuck was gracious to take Jason and Justin home. Thank You Chuck! Now thinking I have AAA with Plus RV we would call and arrange flatbed towing. After numerous calls to AAA and them submitting service request after an hour I called back and was informed they could not find anyone in there network to help us. Now it is dark and we are out of beer….lol. We must have called 15 different towing companies with no luck. Jason found Lucas Towing so we called and they agreed to help but would be an hour and a half before they could get to us. We finally made it home around 2:00am. And Darrell’s phone crapped out and after Chuck got home he noticed a nice scratch and chunk missing out of his gelcoat. Again Fun Times!!!
Chilly and windy start to the 2023 season on Lake Seminole 1-28-2023. Would like to welcome new team Kumar and Papo. Thanks for joining our club! What a nice turn out, 14 teams showed up and glad the weather was not as cold as Christmas day. Little Lake Seminole still produced some nice limits. 56 bass weighed in and total weight was 138.42 pounds.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 21.56 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
Second Place with 5 bass 13.88 pounds goes to Mike and Steve
Third Place with 4 bass weighing 13.86 pounds goes to Kevin
Big Bass weighing 7.41 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
50/50 winner goes to Mike
See you at the ramp on Winter Haven Chain South. Lake Shipp – William G. Roe Ramp 2-25-23
Hard to believe another tournament season is done, but already looking forward to the 2023 season. We have 9 teams that have qualified for the 2022 Classic which is March 11th and 12th 2023 on the Big “O”. We will be fishing 10 regular tournaments next year.
Congrats to Paul and Sean for catching the big bass on last tournament of season.
As we approach next season we will be reviewing some of the rules and possibly adding / tweaking a few but no major changes to worry about. Some are just plain simple unwritten which includes sportsmanship and respect.
Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas Christmas and Happy New Year!
This was the first time SPPB fished this lake and with all the big bass being caught from other tournaments prior we were all hoping for the same. What an awesome lake but the big bites were hard to get.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 14.67 pounds goes to Charles and Timothy
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 9.52 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Third Place with 4 bass weighing 9.50 pounds goes to Chuck and Justin
Big Bass with time running out, weighing 8.42 pounds goes to Timothy and Charles
Lake Seminole 9-24-22
This time Lake Seminole did not produce like the first time we fished last year, but still had some nice bags brought in.
First Place 5 bass weighing 16.08 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Second Place with 4 bass weighing 15.51 pounds goes to Charles and Timothy
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 14.78 pounds goes to Mike and Steve
Big Bass weighing 6.80 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Lake Tarpon 10-22-22
Since Lake Reedy was closed due to flooding this was the third alternate lake since the other two were also dealing with flooding issues. And After Ivan and our first cold front rumors were that the bite was non existent and it was going to be tough. They were correct. Only 1 limit brought to scales and 3 teams zeroed.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 8.84 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason
Second Place with 4 bass weighing 6.27 pounds goes to Mike and Steve
Third Place with 3 bass weighing 3.52 pounds goes to John and Rod
Our last tournament of the year is on Lake Istokpoga November 12th launching out of Henderson Fish Camp.
Just when we all thought team Paul and Sean were running away with AOTY for 2022 here comes team Loren and Julia.
And not far behind is team Charles and Timothy with 4 tournaments to go.
With Kissimmee chain being so low this year a few teams were still able to bring in some nice bags.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 26.26 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 20.04 pounds goes to Charles and Timothy
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 17.42 pounds goes to Gary and Richard.
Big Bass weighing 6.59 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Now for Lake Placid. This is a first for our club and most members to fish this lake and what a different (deep) lake this is and turned out to be challenging for most.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 17.09 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Second Place with 4 bass weighing 6.04 pounds goes to John and Rod
Third Place with 4 bass weighing 5.74 pounds goes to Kevin and David
Big Bass weighing 3.63 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Our next tournament will also be a first for our club. Lake Orange Marion County on August 27th.
Look’s like team Paul and Sean are running away with the 2022 AOTY this year. Not sure if any team can catch them? All it takes is to get big bass a few times and place and maybe there is a chance. This is the home lake of Darrell and Codi, but the home lake advantage did not pay off this time.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 19.42 pounds goes to Paul and Sean.
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 14.84 pounds goes to Loren and Julia.
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 14.50 pounds goes to Gary and Richard.
Big Bass weighing 7.54 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
Think the 50/50 winner is Brian?
Congrats to all and see you at the next tournament on Kissimmee
Yes back to our normal tournament schedule. I would like to welcome new team John and Rod to our club. John has fished with us in the past too. Maybe one day Bannon’s will upgrade their boat ramp……lol.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 20.90 pounds goes to Gary and Bob
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 18.62 pounds goes to Charles and Timothy
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 16.15 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Ok, after my error in schedule with week off after classic and having to change lake to Parker due to low water and then changing date on Parker due to another tournament we finally fished. And why wouldn’t we have one of windiest days this year too on tournament day. With all that we had some nice weights come in for a few teams.
First Place with 5 bass weighing 23.68 pounds goes to Chuck and Devin.
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 16.26 pounds goes to Codi and Brian
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 14.59 pounds goes to Loren and Julia
Big Bass weighing 7.07 pounds goes to Chuck and Devin
It has been 2 years since we fished the Classic on the Big O. Last year we were on the St John’s. And how a lake can change it that time and is why we get to pre-fish the day before to hopefully find our same spots or have to find new spots.
Friday pre-fish did not start so good for Steve and I when we could not get our motor to start……UGH! after some evaluation and talking with the guys at the marina we decided to head to Fort Myers to hopefully have a mechanic look at. We were lucky after a little convincing and soon we were on our way back. Lost about 3 hours but were glad to finally be on the lake. Then as our luck would have it we hit a rock but luckily had minor damage to the prop. Seemed like the pre-fishing for most was slow in the beginning and some of our spots had changed and the water was muddy and the structure had changed. Good thing there are lots of the lake to find better conditions. Jason and Darrell had a good limit on pre-fish day again after a slow start and some of us struggled. Then it was time for some fun, bullshitting and a little drinking to help with day we had and prepare for the tournament.
First Place with two day total 37.87 pounds goes to Loren and Julia.
Second Place with a two day total 33.29 pounds goes to Steve and Mike.
Third Place with a two day total 31.08 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason.
Big Bass day one goes to Steve and Mike with a 7.38 pounds.
Big Bass day two goes to Jason and Darrell with a 6.70 pounds.
Congrats to all and our 2022 Classic will be back on the Big O.
Tournament dates are March 11th and 12th 2023. Pre-fish Friday March 10th.
Who picked this lake? Oh yeah it was Justin and Chuck. Can only imagine how many times throughout all the years we have asked that same question….lol. Now I would like to welcome two new teams. Brant Sims and Cody Sims ( Cody could not fish so Brant had sub ) and Kevin Frost teamed up with David Violette. Welcome guys!
We had 11 teams on this warm February and it proved to be a little tough to say the least. Lots of smaller bass and pickerel were caught. Only 4 teams brought in limits.
First Place with 4 bass weighing 10.49 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
Second Place with 5 bass weighing 9.15 pounds goes to Steve and Mike
Third Place with 5 bass weighing 7.25 pounds goes to Darrell and Jason
Big bass weighing 7.26 pounds goes to Paul and Sean
50/50 winner goes to Mike
I also would like to let everyone know I made error in March schedule as after the Classic we have always had a week off in between and since our Classic is the third weekend I did not adjust when I made schedule.
With that being said the Lake Arbuckle tournament will be April 2nd.
My apologies to all.
For those who have qualified for the 2021 Classic see you in Clewiston.
