Lake Arbuckle 2-27-21

Looks like team Charles and sons are on fire and taking a commanding lead after the second tournament. Really helps when you bring in big bass and place. But still early and I know nobody is throwing in the towel yet.

We had 16 teams show up and one new team joined and two came back from last year. Team Harold and Tom are the new team and Justin came back to fish with his father Jeff. And Chandler came back fishing with his father Darrell.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 16.52 pounds goes to Harold and Tom

Second Place with 15.65 pounds goes to Charles and Timothy

Third Place with 13.20 pounds goes to Justin and Jeff

Big Bass weighing 7.42 pounds goes to Charles and Timothy

50/50 winner goes to Adam.

Next tournament is March 27th originally scheduled for Lake Marion, but there is another club fishing. This ramp barely is enough for 1 club. Stay tuned as we may swap.

2021 Tournament Season

Welcome back all teams and the two new / old teams that joined for the 2021 season. Joe and Greg who have been long term members came back after major engine issues and missing seems like two seasons. Glad to have them back! New team Justin and Brandon also joined and glad to have them in our club. Also glad to have my partner Steve back, but bittersweet as my son Justin will not be on my team, but glad he hooked up with Chuck as his partner. Now I have to fish against both my sons. Charles has found a new partner too and will be fishing with his son Jesse. And Joe has new partner Brian. First tournament was on Lake Seminole January 23rd, 2021 and 13 teams came out to fish Matt’s home lake, and a few others that live close to the lake as well. Was nice to see the family’s show up for the weigh in and we did not disappoint any as all teams caught fish and weighed in. Had a total of 64 bass weighing 174.26 pound brought to the scales. Not bad for little Lake Seminole. Now who is going to catch Charles and Jessie as they took a commanding lead for AOTY.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 22.69 pounds goes to Charles and Jesse

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 16.05 pounds goes to Chuck and Justin

Third Place weighing 15.52 pounds goes to Joe and Greg

Big Bass weighing 8.07 pounds goes to Charles and Jesse

50/50 winner goes to Matt Sparks

Congrats to all !

Charles and Jesse with their first place and big bass limit
Justin and Chuck with second place limit

2020 Season

Our tournament season has come to an end. What a crazy year it has been!

Our last tournament was on Crooked Lake and thank you all for not power loading your boat…….lol. So mush water in Crooked still and was tough to get the big bites. Lots of smaller bass were caught. Darrell was late due to traffic accident and special thanks to the club and Joe for allowing Jason to fish with Joe who was solo this morning until Darrell got to lake. By the time Darrell was on lake Jason had their limit.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 14.41 lbs goes to Darrell and Jason

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 14.31 lbs goes to Loren and Matt

Third Place with 11.70 lbs goes to Bart and Justin

Big Bass weighing 4.88 lbs goes to Loren and Matt

50/50 winner goes to Jason

I would like to congratulate Loren and Matt for kicking ass and winning the 2020 Angler of the Year. Great Job ! They finished with 302 points and there was no catching them.

I will be posting the 2021 schedule soon.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Lake Kissimmee 7-25-2020

First I would like to welcome two new teams to the club. Team Paul and David / Team Scott and Brittany. Thanks for joining and welcome to the SPPB Club.

12 teams braved the Kissimmee Chain and compared to last year when we fished this chain with major low water conditions and being hot as can be at least we had lots of water but still way hot and the East winds kicked up as predicted. Only 4 teams were able to bring in limits and Justin and myself were lucky to get our 5, thanks to Justin as after we had our limit of bass he caught a nice bass close to 4 pounds and when we went to cull 2 bass jumped out of live well. We went from 5 bass to 4 bass in a split second. The after grinding out an area we were fishing Justin caught the 5th bass which was just over 4 pounds. Heard team Chuck and Chason had some of their own excitement when Chason decided to fall out of the boat and swim with the gators. Good news is the he got back into the boat before the gators could get him….lol.

Can anyone stop team Loren and Matt as they just keep moving ahead with their quest to be the 2020 Anglers of the Year. Not over until the fat lady sings as they say.

Before I show the winners I would like to ask for every teams help when we blast off. Please make sure all is clear in front and to the sides before you blast off and if you choose to wait until everyone else takes off please sit back a bit to avoid all the waves. Thanks for all your help!

First Place with 5 bass weighing 16.35 lbs goes to Loren and Matt

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 13.08 lbs goes to Gary and Richard

Third Place with 5 bass weighing 12.02 lbs goes to Mike and Justin

Big Bass weighing 6.41 lbs goes to Loren and Matt

50/50 winner goes to Matt B.

Congrats to all!

Team Loren and Matt with 2 bass from winning limit

Lake Istokpoga 5-16-20

Our first tournament back since the Classic and the Covid-19 restrictions and let me tell you all it was great to see everyone and go fish and not worry about life for a day. I would like to welcome back to our club 2 teams Chuck and his sub for the day Greg since Chuck’s partner could not fish. And Keith and his new partner Christine. Glad to have you back fishing . Now we just need Greg and Joe back soon. Oh yeah, Charles decided to change his partner from his wife Brandy to his Uncle James ( aka King James…..lol ) who showed us a 26 pound limit and big bass on this tournament. Awesome limit guys!

First Place with 5 bass weighing 26.31lbs goes to Charles and James

Secon Place with 5 bass weighing 16.01lbs goes to Gary and Bob ( sub for Richard )

Third Place with 13.12 lbs goes to Bart and Justin

Big Bass weighing 7.58lbs goes to James and Charles

On a sad note I would like to let the club know that member and friend Dick Fletcher ( Fletch ) passed away Saturday May 30th. after a long hard fight against cancer. I will miss his humor and his back and forth conversations with his fishing partner Scott as they launched the boat and put the boat back on the trailer. RIP Fletch.

Next tournament is June 27th on Lake Pierce out of Jennings.

Covid 19 2019 Classic

March 21st and 22nd 2020 we had our 2019 Classic on the Big O. We started with eight teams and shortly after practice day and day 1 of tournament we had 6. One team blew out their lower unit and the other team had to leave due to medical reasons. Was strange though during this Covid 19 thing as it seemed like almost a ghost town in Clewiston.

Gary and Richard hooked up with Big Dawg Baits and as able to get our club a discount. Please make sure you visit site and take advantage of your discount. Thank you both for your help and samples that you shared with us.

Lake Reedy 11-9-19

Another tournament season is in the books and already looking forward to the 2020 season. What a nice gloomy rainy morning we had and a great turn out for the last tournament. No chance for anyone to catch team Gary and Richard, but second place was only ahead by 6 points and team Bart and Justin wanted to get second over Steve and I. Sorry Bart and Justin, maybe next year. And congrats to Gary and Richard for winning the 2019 AOTY honors.

First Place with 4 bass weighing 13.23 lbs goes to Joe and Paul

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 11.51 lbs goes to Darrell and Jason

50/50 winner goes to Brandy. YTD monies raised is $340.00 which goes to the Classic payout.

We had our year end meeting to pick / vote on next years lakes and thanks to all for your patience / homework on choosing the lakes. Over the years we ( club directors ) have learned / listened to all and in the future we will be modifying some of the rules as it was brought to our attention some did not make sense or were misleading. We will also take a more direct approach in running the club to ensure we are doing what is in the best interest in our club history. Don’t worry, nothing major will be changing.

I would like to take this time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and a Great Holiday Season.

See you at the ramp in 2020

Lake Henderson 10-26-19

No stopping team Gary and Richard now. With only 2 tournaments left, Steve and Mike just needed to place and have big bass to have a chance at catching them. Just could not get the big bass and seems like all the times we have fished this lake we have the same results. Lots of smaller bass and no big bags being weighed in. Guess that’s why they call it fishing and not catching.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 10.86 lbs goes to Gary and Richard

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 9.21 lbs goes to Darrell and Jason

Third Place with 5 bass weighing 6.86 lbs goes to Marc

Big Bass weighing 2.72 lbs goes to Marc

50/50 winner goes to Marc

Next and last tournament of 2019 is November 9th on Lake Reedy.

There are 11 teams who qualify for the 2019 Classic. We are considering a couple of changes too. First the 30 days off limits for pre-fishing will be reinstated. The majority of members I spoke with are OK with this change. Second is we are reviewing the raffle we do for the Classic. More info to come as we look at options.

Harris Chain and More

We had our 9th tournament on Saturday September 28th and wanted to also recap the last few tournaments too. Crooked ( hot ), Rosalie (hotter) and Walk in Water ( hottest with a side of mayflies ).

Now onto the the Harris Chain. Still hot but not as bad . Was nice to have 13 teams show up to fish and lots of fish were caught. Just tough trying to get the big bites though, unless it was mud fish or alligator gar. 7 teams had limits. With only two tournaments left after this one we have 10 teams that have qualified and three that still can qualify. The 2019 Classic will be March 21st and 22nd on the Big “O” out of Clewiston. Yes I know we were considering launching out of the North end but the accommodations were not the same as Roland Martin’s. And as of right now the water levels are good, but always subject to change.

First Place with 4 bass weighing 14.60 lbs goes to Brad and his brother Chris who was sub.

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 12.19 lbs goes to Charles and his son Randy who was sub.

Third Place with 5 bass weighing 11.80 lbs goes to Gary and Richard.

Big Bass weighing 5.10 lbs goes to Matt and Malcolm.

50/50 winner goes to Gary

Lake Kissimmee

Want to wish everyone a nice Memorial Day Holiday Weekend which is why we fished the third Saturday in May and Thank You to all our military service members. Also wanted to let you all know Brian who is the website designer and my nephew and Steve’s son is in Africa will update the website when he returns. I will attach link showing all the standings, etc. and hope I typed in correct this time. I was informed I made error in my points and now the point difference between first and second is a lot closer now. Did not help that I had a brain fart when I threw away a 13″ bass thinking it was 14″ limit……UGH! Poop happens and you just have to laugh at yourself sometimes. The lake was reported as being tough due to low water conditions and all were correct. Except for the teams that fish it daily and Mr. and Mrs. Brush Pile…..lol.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 18.97 lbs goes to Charles and Brandy

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 14.86 lbs goes to George and Trish

Third Place with 5 bass weighing 13.78 lbs goes to Josh and Marc

Next tournament is June 22nd on Crooked Lake launching at Bob’s Landing……remember their is ramp fee and no power loading.

West Lake Toho

4-27-19

I would like to welcome the new team of Bryan and Brad and welcome back Joe and Greg. Hopefully Joe and Greg’s bad luck is behind them and they seemed to enjoy being back and fishing again. It showed with their limit they brought in that they have not forgotten how to fish and catch. Darrell had the privilege of fishing with his wife Kim who subbed for Jason. And it looks like my oldest son Justin will be fishing for a bit while Steve continues to recover from his shoulder replacement. Seems like the Kissimmee Chain is lower than usual  including Toho. 13 teams showed up to enjoy the last cool day before summer kicks in and all but 2 teams weighed in. And quite a few nice limits too were brought in.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 17.35lbs goes to Mike and Justin

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 16.76lbs goes to Joe and Greg

Third Place with 5 bass weighing 15.65lbs goes to Josh and Marc

Big Bass weighing 5.14lbs goes to Joe and Greg

And was also nice to see Matt back to fish with us. 11 teams showed up and I have a sub, my oldest son Justin, for a few months to fish with me while Steve gets through his shoulder replacement. 2018 Classic

2018 Classic

Lake Okeechobee, March 9th and 10th 2019

Another Classic has come and gone! This may have been the lowest, if not one of the lowest lake levels we fished on the the Big ” O “. And lots of muddy chocolate milk water in most areas. And only 1 casualty from low lake levels and hopefully not too bad for George who braved the elements and tried fishing solo. Even in the rim canal he had a close encounter with a rock or two. We had 7 teams out of the 11 that qualified show up. I would like to wish a speedy recovery to those teams that could not be there and a speedy recovery on engine repair team Joe an Greg too. The Classic was not the same without Joe and Greg, but I think Godwin made up for them thinking he could out-drink the infamous moonshine Darrell brought. Enough said and what happens at the Big ” O ” stays at the Big ” O “.  Now lets start with Friday pre-fish day. After the teams went out and explored no team seemed very confident due to the conditions and some teams getting stuck in the muck. Day 1 went well with a least 2 other tournaments going out the same time and we were able to get out before the the other clubs. With the thought of how bad Friday was it was encouraging to see 6 teams bring in a limit and 1 team wounded from the rock encounter decided he had enough and one of his batteries was acting up too. Total weight was 81.20 lbs and 3 bass weighing over 5 lbs. Sunday we were able to launch before the other tournament and again all teams had limits. But a much slower day with total weight of 66.99 lbs.

I would like to thank all the sponsors / members who donated gifts for the raffle. We always have a great time, but we are thinking next year to try and do something different to help generate the extra money that goes towards the payouts for the Classic. More info to come.

First Place with 10 bass weighing 32.46 lbs goes to Gary and Richard

Second Place with 10 bass weighing 27.65 lbs goes to Godwin and Keith

Third Place with 10 bass weighing 26.41 lbs goes to Josh and Marc

Big Bass day 1 weighing 5.84 lbs goes to Josh and Marc

Big Bass day 2 weighing 5.25 lbs goes to Godwin and Keith

Congrats to all! Weigh in below.

Congrats to Jason and Darrell who won the 2018 Angler of the Year honors. Great Job !!!

Want to wish Steve a speedy recovery too. The Monday after the Classic he had his right shoulder replaced. Will be out for at least a few months we are thinking.

Butler Chain 2-23-19

Butler Chain

2-23-19

The tournament of small bass. I do not remember a tournament where so many small bass were weighed in with no bigger bass. A few teams had their chances on a bigger bass, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Out of 14 teams there were 60 bass weighed in with a 1.57 pound per bass average. Was still lots of fun catching bass all day long. I would like to welcome the new team of Trevor and Brian! And the new / old remake team of Scott and Rob. Welcome back. Usually this park / ramp is not the easiest to hold a tournament, but they opened the gate way early and after the tournament it was not too crazy trying to load all the boats with all the recreational craziness.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 10.72 lbs goes to Gary and Richard

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 9.11 lbs goes to Bart and Justin

Third Place with 5 bass weighing 8.56 lbs goes to Darrell and Jason

Big Bass weighing 2.70 lbs goes to Bill and Tommie

50/50 winner goes to Troy.

Our next scheduled 2019 tournament is March 23rd on Lake Tarpon out of Anderson Park.

The 2018 Classic is March 9th and 10th on the Big ” O ” out of Clewiston for those teams that qualified.

No prefishing 7 days prior to Friday March 8th.

Winter Haven Chain 1-26-19

Winter Haven Chain

1-26-19

Welcome 2019!

Seems like it has been way too long since we all got together to fish. For some that have not been able to fish it has been. Now we just have to get through hopefully two cold months of fishing. Hopefully February will be nice to us? It was quite chilly and breezy this January day, but 14 teams including 3 new teams braved the elements. I would like to welcome team Albert Sr. and Albert Jr., team Bill and Tommie and team Joe and Paul. Also nice to have Malcolm back who is fishing with Keith. Oh yeah and not to forget George is fishing with his wife Trish. I am sure Joe and Greg thought their bad luck days were behind after last year, and wanted to start the year off with a bang. Well they did by blowing up their engine heading to their secret spot. Fished with their trolling motor all the way back to the ramp.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 12.88 lbs goes to Darrell and Jason

Second Place with 5 bass weighing 10.40 lbs goes to Mike and Steve

Third Place with 4 bass weighing 9.18 lbs goes to Gary and Richard

Big Bass weighing 4.64 lbs goes to Darrell and Jason

50/50 goes to Darrell.

Out of 14 teams only 4 limits were caught and Darrell and Jason’s big bass beat Steve and mine by .25. So close and yet so far.

Next tournament is February 23rd on the Butler Chain, launching from RD Keene Park. Please remember the ramp is not so user friendly and have to park a bit away. We will be able trailer boats to parking area after tournament, but all boats need to be in staging area by ramp by 2:00.

First Place with 5 bass weighing 10.49 lbs goes to Jason and Darrell

Second Place 5 bass weighing 8.95 lbs goes to Godwin and Keith

Can team King George and his Queen Trish be stopped?  Looks like Rob may be looking for another partner…..lol. And what about team Darrell and Jason pulling away for AOTY. Darrell told me since he pulled his weight at last tournament fishing by himself he was just gonna sit back and be net-boy. And he was right since Jason caught all the bass they weighed in. What a tough day on this nice fall day all 7 teams had. Only 2 limits weighed in.

Third Place with 4 bass weighing 7.71 lbs goes to Godwin and Keith
